From Sam....
Gawd!! I hope the walls don’t cave in on us THIS SUNDAY, Strangers!!
Sunday, May 13 will be the loudest Stay Strange yet!! Frank Melendez and Riververb! Also on the bill is the equally loud Actuary from Los Angeles. Plus a rare performance by artist Gerritt Wittmer.
SUNDAY, MAY 13-
RIVERVERB/ACTUARY/GERRITT WITTMER
THE KAVA GALLERY - 2804 KETTNER BLVD - 7PM - $5.00 - ALL AGES SHOW!
Riververb is always in a constant change, and I hear that the latest incarnation is the best so far! Judge for yourself! it’s some heavy stuff! Face morphing grinder sludge. Last time Riververb played, no slayed, the smoke turned black from monolithic chunks of acid-noise.
Actuary shake the shit loose! Los Angeles breeds some sick stuff and this by no means drops the ball. Not only are this tunes in your face, it’s in your skull too! Mean ass nitro venom. Gory!!
Gerritt Wittmer is an artist in the darkest sense possible. I’m not sure what he’ll be doing at this month’s Stay Strange, but if it’s anything like his performance at LUFF, it’s going to be scary!!!

Colour Haze - All Elecktrohasch Records by Eric Nielsen 7.26.8

Heralds from the ark end of the cave beckon, enter with eyes closed. The metal darkness continues to kicks ass, as it had in "Tempel" and "Los Sounds de Krauts". Like the Allegory of the Cave, the shadows and sounds emanate and lift us out of the fire-filled pits into the sacred enlightening sun. Houses burn gently to the ground, settling as things turn down.

Fantastically arranged and orchestrated, these pieces fill and create longing with heavily emotive instrument and lyric sounds. The voice sits in the cradle of mad tight pulse blasts, so delicate and raw. Sound-crafted elements wash over into Hendrix, Tool, a meticulous Acid Mothers Temple, Chinchilla, Queens of the Stone Age, Fugazi, deep SUNNO))) and long kraut builds of warm scales from these Germans.

The musicians reign supreme with blistering toned organs, tight tucked and laced jams and some beautiful restraint. It's the heavy stuff with spare voices on the disc that really gets me.

Weather the storm, the northern blizzard that may take your life, old Sabbath evil nature cell regeneration that make the passing so rewarding. Euphoria, blood running adrenaline induced listening. Blackened to damn or destined to fight? Set down in a newfound land to survive. Psychedelia welcome. Like 2 or 3 days without food, making rituals with fire and waking up after your deepest sleep this music puts you somewhere else.
