Fischerspooner at House of Blues Chris Mutter 5.21.9

If you've never seen Fischerspooner perform you've been missing out. I fell into that category until last night when I was enlightened. My eyes were opened by a show unlike anything I've ever seen before.
The stage was set with four large mirrors which flipped the audiences perspective and gave the illusion of looking out into the crowd from backstage. In addition to the mirrors was a stadium sized video screen displaying rehearsal footage which, in appearance, was so raw yet so amazing compared to what was happening on stage.
Performing live on that stage was Casey Spooner (vocals) who was backed up by a number of dancers clad in flesh toned spandex and a DJ, complete with a yellow wig which bounced powerfully to the beat. There were constant costume changes which took place on stage that kept the look fresh and kept sparking the crowd's fascination. A constant sense of movement between Spooner, the dancers, the video and the mirrors made for a show that was visually stunning.
The visuals were only the cherries on top of this electroclash sundae. The music was a cold dark flavor being craved by the crowd which couldn't get enough as it swallowed each beat whole. Take early Depeche Mode blended with a little more power and injected with electricity and you have the Fischerspooner sound. Take that sound mixed in with the performance and you have a work of pure art that will keep you guessing, dreaming, and dancing on an unforgettable night.
