Glee Krista and Maya Nielsen
5.29.11

Long lines outside to just get into the stadium, made up mostly of moms and daughters…tweens and teens cheeks stamped florescent GLEEK! T’s adorning single statements: “Like Boys”, “No Weave”, “Can’t Dance”, “Brown Eyes”, and “Can’t Sing”…started from an episode of Glee, admitting personal secrets to the world.
Dancing headed up by Glee star Harry Shum Jr. opened the evening, flipping and spinning. After an intermission, Glee’s cheerleaders ran up and down the isles handing out ‘barf bags’ and Sue Sylvester’s projection explained they will be handy since she believes the show sucks…staying true to her on screen personality.
The entire Glee cast joined by a live band and an impressive light show sang their guts out to the constant girl-screaming, packed arena. The performances were all from this season’s Glee show, and each seemed to enjoy the live audience as they ran up and down the catwalk waving.
Adding an extra layer to the show was a second stage, a large black box, set about 500 feet back within the floor seats. Many times, the singers would turn full circle to face the back audience, the left and the right…giving the kids further back in the stadium a closer look.
Brittany’s dance moves shined as she supported the dance crew a few times, along with her Brittany Spears rendition. Her over-the-top sex show woke up the dads, and got them to the edge of their seats.
Some of the songs were 70s and 80s era, so the few dads along for the ride, had a chance to sing along to songs they knew from high school.
Maya’s Review
I think the Glee concert was RAD! I enjoyed every second of it! I was surprised to see the Warblers but they BLOW my mind. No instruments REALLY? Sounds so real.
The Glee singer that never stops blowing my mind is Mercedes. Wow what a voice! I love Glee. I am a singer/performer, so watching this really encourages me to do more of it. By the way, Sue passed out barf bags? Good old Sue.
Outside the concert hall, walking around the little shops, I saw the Samsung/AT&T phone set up. It was really cool. I took pictures with the silly backgrounds. I also really enjoyed the screen with the slushie game.
