Artist Ed Moller 12.12.06

Ed Moller is an accomplished figurative painter who studied at the University of Iowa. He's a fantastic teacher of art at one of San Diego's tougher inner city schools, O'Farrell. Moller is constantly pushing himself and his students to visualize the world artistically and is an inspiration to many around him, children and adults alike. This death metal music lover uses conventional media to portray a life of struggle and passion.

Eyes averted and sullen, the subjects emote despair and struggle. Most have slumped shoulders, worryful brows that may have a terrible story to tell. Watery strokes and often strange proportions reiterate the anguished state these people are in. The treatment of the background is similar throughout these paintings, forcing the viewer to focus on the subject's face and crumpled frames, no matter how uncomfortable it may appear. Dripping woe covers faces, often possibly blood or tears streaking through the shades and blending, blurring as they fall.
