Andrew Documents Vinyl Radio Breakup
Hey BlogSanDiego,
I wanted to write in regards to our recent breakup of the group Vinyl Radio. It may have seemed very sudden because things were going well for us but we were very honest with each other and saw that it was best to end it because of direction that some of us wanted to take.
The ongoing battle that you have when you play in several bands is the amount of which is sacrificed.... You dump a lot of your soul, sweat and time when it comes to making music and too many people spread themselves thin and each group in turn suffers. Playing music can become like being a swinger, you want to hook up with as many girls as you can because they're all intriguing in different ways. It's the same thing... You may dig one dudes guitar playing, or another's drumming, and want to take on all the projects. There's some definite incest going on in the music scene here and in other cities too.
But the key is focusing on the one sound, the one perfect girl for you at present time, the stuff that you write at 2AM, the music that depicts you and your writing... the reason why you started and continue to play music in today's noise wasteland. If you have a natural knack and have the true passion and love for creating, writing, and performing, what's the closest you can get to what you are hearing and would like to create? While it was a tough ongoing decision, we weren't all getting that out of what we were doing.
So this situation was brought on by a need for focus. The Swedish Models was a group that we were trying to put together with some former heads that were in Cape May and 2 other heads, for a long time, over a year.... The right likeminded heads, great musicians- 5 writers that could happily coexist and accentuate each other in a band, harmonizing on vocs ala the kinks etc. & Queen (if possible:)) and fit their roles together with good knowledge of space and when to let loose or kick back because each guy can carry it in their own way. The options are super wide with the group, 2 drummers adding an oddity, and the necessary player/instrument variety.... Tight friendships, shared taste, and a locking vibe along with spontaneous passion while performing.
Basically, we're really excited about The Swedish Models and looking forward to sharing the recordings and performances with anyone that we can as it progresses.
Vinyl Radio was great and we love what we were able to make together, but the split was welcomed and followed through by Keith, Bob, and Foley as well. Matt was disappointed afterwards, and rightfully so..... So Vinyl Radio might have broken up because of a keyboard player leaving (Joking.... Making a joke on the recent quote in the city beat

He must have had a killer Casio.....I wonder if it's for sale on Ebay?
Long live trigger the horse!
Sincerely,
The former keyboard player from Vinyl Radio...
